Life of Pi

The film <Life of Pi>'s main character is a boy named PI, who had believe of three different religions. His father owned a zoo. At a point, their family needed to move to Canada and to sell the animals to live. But when the storm hit the ship they are on, he lost the family. He experienced a journey of faith which is incredible. Who could imagine the feeling of a 16-year-old Indian boy who lost all his relatives? He was with a tiger and spend 227 days on the sea rafting, by relying on very strong willpower and survival skills, he survived. How strong was the power of faith.

He had experienced two storms. At the first time he lost his family. While he was drifting at sea he finally began to understand. At the second one, a day of turmoil made PI completely collapse. Although he was a vegetarian but in order to survive, he gradually began to eat meat. But in his heart he had a sense of guilt for the gods who do not encourage killing for meat. When PI wad hopeless and helpless in the storm he shouted out. I seem to feel that nothing can describe the despair and loneliness released in the outbreak. I think human beings, in that case, could do nothing. After that period of the natural universe under the stars, it was as if they were telling us, "even if human civilization fails, the cosmos is still so wonderful and wide." Despair became a hope.
I seem to have some unique perception in regards of this film. Religion is something he used to save himself. Pi successfully survived with faith more powerful than his own will to live. In his experience, his faith is blocking the only obstacle to living undef. But at the end, he went farther. There seemed to be no way to be saved. Life is so tangled, because of the swing between not only reason and emotion, but also moral and instincts to fight. We have to accept it, and live with it. Perhaps the significance of religion is in this. Humanity will not change because of their faith, but faith, because of human nature, is able to shine。

questions
If you are PI,will you still have faith after all this difficulties?
If your name is ridiculed by classmates, how would you make them pay attention to you?

V for Vendetta

Through the film <V for Vendetta> I learned to understand the potential dangers of dictatorship. Government use their power of censorship to oppress and harm people. In the movie, there is a scene in which Evie fled to colleague Gordon's home, and was worrying about bringing trouble to Gordon. Gordon told her that he has more troubles himself. Not only is there a lot of the original books and works of art that Gordon, but also is he homosexual. In order to hide his identity and insure his life he became a television entertainment program host. This shows how difficult people's lives are. Mysterious  and eccentric protagonist "V" wanted to liberate people's aspirations. Although at the end, accompanied by beautiful fireworks, V died, his body and the crumbled concil building symbols for the falling of evil dictatorship and the raising of hope and new lives.

Lessons

Most of the inspirations and tribulations I had in my life so far have occured after I came to Canada. I spent my childhood in Beijing, learning in primary school and then middle school with my parents along my side. Though I never was the perfect student, I had a pretty good time. Since my education places since primary school had been boarding schools, I was able to take care of myself pretty well. But after I came to Canada, my attitudes towards people had undergone a change. In Chine, I was a relatively laid-back, sloppy even, kind of person. I divided my likes and dislikes clearly. However, when I came here my naivity led to changes in friends and relations. I started to realize that friends will not support and enlighten you unconditionally. The set-back in social relationship caused me to be very emotional the first semester I had in Canada. In addition, I find it difficult to adapt to the teaching mode of this side of the world. Perhaps through those difficulties I face I started to understand the way of world slowly. I remember I did a lot of stupid things including having unpleasant and heated conversation with my mother back when I was in middle school. But now, my behaviours make my mother consider going aboard extremely worthy. One year of experience aboard can teach one as much as three years of the same in the country. Gradually I started to have a change of mind, going towards a direction which is peaceful and not as extreme as it used to be. From time to time I contact my middle school teacher, who is able to give me some good advice. The second half of the semester will be my busiest period of time. The language issue is still a high barrier for me. I hope this course can change my somewhat negative attitude towards English learning and allow my English skill to take a leap even in only a month's time.

21st century censorship

Only when we are no longer full stop substances are increasingly concerned about the idea in the mind, there will be some of the community have a different perception of the crowd. People around the world living in different circumstances,i think there will be differences, but the society will be dominated by large number of people. So there will have censorship, media manipulation, propaganda and so on.

In 2011 China had a large local traffic accidents. Events on high-speed rail, as was the scene of the incident in the high-speed rail, sinister environment so when the government decided to bury below the front for easy rescue. There are some people still alive in the train , because no timely rescue and death. It's something sparked anger so when network news, has collapsed. So now if you still have commented on the network is not conducive to the government's management of the news, or comment will be reviewed. So that when the government officials to give back to the people is a very irresponsible "Whether you believe it or not the government say, anyway, I believed" at the time this sentence is very popular in the network. Until now, people still often use these words to satirize others.

Not only in China, in other more developed countries, for example in the United States although their ideas are very open but the government still have to face such problems. Thoughtful art - graffiti. In the United States there is a graffiti style called Banksy, so far no one knows who is the founder of his. Since some graffiti too unfavorable government or pornographic content is not conducive to children as it has been unlawful.

However, there is still a lot of bold thinking artists doing this sort of thing. For example Mike Diana became the first American artist to receive a conviction for obscenity for drawing cartoons that were judged legally obscene.

Finally i want to say that. Censorship have many different types even thought we are live in a free expression of society, but we still need behave oneself.

introduce for myself

My name is Claire. I come from China. Although I have been in Canada for two years, my speaking and writing skills are still not smooth or excellent. Because I want to graduate early in February, so in the summer my English must improve and other exams must be achieved.  This summer will be the busiest period of time: TOEFL, Math and SAT are tests that I need to achieve satisfying marks within four months,  which for me really is a great challenge. For many times I get to the point which I feel I would rather die instead of drowning and suffoscating in the sea of work. My heart shouts "I want to die!".  But I really want to do good on this English course, not only to achieve a good mark, but also, and more importantly, to improve my reading and speaking. English is critical for various areas of learnign whether in college or high school. Sooner or later, I need to force myself to learn and push my English skills to a certain level. On every English class I have, wherever and whenever, I notice everyone starts to write around me when homework is assigned. While on the other hand, my brain began to go blank. Then I start to stall and think my brains out. As the deadline comes near, I slowly finish my homework, but not in the quality I hope to achieve due to all the gramma mistakes I make all the time. I hope the completion of this lesson can take my English to another level in all aspects.

Censorship

According to the class. I think  Censorship is to check the speech. It  can  contact with the anyway if you want to show the  opinion.speech, music ,films, book,TV, arts and the internet. To control obscenity, child pornography, and hate speech.Censorship can protect children or restrict political and religious. Many countries provide strong protections against censorship by law. That is the good way in  censorship. In bad way the government can decided what you should know, So have many times they exploit the citizens rights to konw the truth.
